Privacy Policy
Version 2.1
How Carify collects, uses, and shares information
\This Privacy Policy explains how Carify, Inc. (“Carify”) collects, uses, and shares personal information in connection with its website, app, and inspection services, and the privacy choices available to California residents.
1. Information we collect
- Account & contact: name, email, phone, and login credentials.
- Order & payment: order details and payment confirmation. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
- Vehicle & inspection data: VIN, license plate, odometer reading, inspection findings, grades, and inspection photographs, including time-stamps and geolocation metadata captured by the inspection app.
- Device & usage: IP address, device, and usage data, and cookies (see our cookie notice).
- Carify does not respond to Do Not Track signals sent by your browser.
- Communications: messages you send us and support records.
We do not require or photograph the vehicle registration or certificate of title, and we do not seek to collect the seller’s name or home address from those documents.
2. How we use information
- To perform the inspection, generate and deliver your report, and administer the Inspection Accuracy Guarantee and any claim.
- To process payments, provide support, and operate, secure, and improve the Services.
- For quality assurance, audits, fraud prevention, and to investigate and resolve disputes and claims.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms.
3. How we share information
- With the Verified Inspector performing the inspection, and (where you order through a dealer) the relevant dealer, as needed to provide the Services.
- With service providers (e.g., Stripe for payments and hosting) under contract. Carify uses first-party, backend analytics only. Carify does not use third-party analytics and does not permit third-party cross-site tracking.
- With legal, regulatory, or law-enforcement authorities where required or to investigate fraud or protect rights.
- In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, financing).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
4. SMS / text messaging
If you provide your phone number, Carify sends transactional text messages (SMS) related to your account and inspection — booking confirmations, appointment reminders and changes, verification codes, report-ready notifications, and payment receipts. Message frequency varies with your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out of transactional texts does not affect your order; we will use email instead. Marketing texts are sent only with your separate opt-in and are never a condition of purchase — see our Communications Policy & Consent.
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing described elsewhere in this Policy excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent: that information will not be shared with, or obtained by, any third party.
5. Your privacy choices
- Right to know and access the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to delete and right to correct your personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale/sharing — we do not sell or share, but you may still submit a request.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (e.g., precise geolocation).
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and to use an authorized agent.
To use these choices, contact Carify at Carify will verify your request and respond within a reasonable time.
6. Geolocation & photo data
Inspection photos may include precise location and time metadata to authenticate where and when the inspection occurred. This evidentiary metadata is retained as part of the inspection record.
7. Data retention
We retain photo and audit-trail inspection records for 4 years, then delete or de-identify them. We retain other inspection records for the period needed to administer the Inspection Accuracy Guarantee and to address potential claims and disputes.
Publication of Vehicle Condition Data. Where the vehicle owner consents at inspection, Carify publishes the inspection report — including the grade, a findings summary, and the inspection photos — published on a permanent, VIN-searchable basis. License plates are covered at the inspection, any individuals are avoided (and an inadvertently-captured person can be removed on request), and location/EXIF metadata is removed from published images. Published reports may show the Verified Inspector's identity (so buyers can see where the car was inspected). No ordering-user or vehicle-owner personal information is published. You may request correction of an inaccurate published record, or removal of an image that inadvertently shows a person, under the Data Dispute & Correction process in the Terms of Service. Because a published record is a permanent public accuracy record, deletion may be limited; where deletion rights apply, Carify honors them consistent with maintaining record integrity.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure.
9. Children
The Services are not directed to anyone under 18, and Carify does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
10. Third-party links
Our Services may link to third-party sites we do not control; their privacy practices are their own.
11. Changes & contact
Carify may update this Policy. Carify will post the updated Policy with a new effective date and, for material changes, give notice by email or in the app. Contact: Carify, Inc., 3680 Wilshire Blvd, Ste P04 - 1224, Los Angeles, CA 90010, official@carify.info.
